Fiber Artist: Laura Dotson
Laura is a stay at home Mom with 2 boys, 9 and 3 1/2 years, who learned to crochet from her grandmother when she was 9 years old. She became a self-taught knitter when she was pregnant with her first son. Laura says, 'I attended the Southwest Fiber Festival at the end of October, 2008 and decided to purchase a drop spindle and a ball of fiber-fluff, not really knowing what to do with it, and became a self-taught spindler'. She rented her first wheel, a Schacht Matchless, in January of 2009 and knew that spinning was the thing for her. Laura purchased a new wheel one month later, a Majacraft Pioneer, and hasn't looked back since! Now selling her handspun yarns, art yarns, along with some knitted and crocheted items in an Etsy shop called Flutterby Fibers. |
